Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County

In May 2022, the Arts Council of Fayetteville and Cumberland County (ACFCC) engaged Lee Institute as a partner to design and facilitate a two-year strategic plan with an equity lens using Lee Institute’s phased methodology. ACFCC’s strategic planning process included environmental/stakeholder research and a board retreat to explore the effectiveness of ACFCC’s funding approach, opportunities to expand its current “brick and mortar” presence, as well as the development of more diverse programming to build awareness of different cultures and partnerships in the community. The process with Lee Institute was the first board- and staff- engaged strategic planning process for their organization, leading to a more energized and accountable board. In Spring 2023, the board adopted their newly defined strategic plan framework.

Lee Institute began working with the board and staff of ACFCC on their Strategic Re™ process in December 2024. The goal is to reassess the current strategic plan, re engage the community around the progress that ACFCC has made over the past two years and realign the strategic plan to the current needs of the organization.

“Working with the Lee Institute has been one of the highlights of my career in the arts. Lee has provided our organization with top quality strategic planning while at the same time normalizing the process and grounding our Board. Working with staff from the Lee Institute feels like a meeting with old friends who have your best interest at heart.”
