Communities In Schools of Charlotte-Mecklenburg

Communities In Schools of Charlotte-Mecklenburg is an affiliate of the national Communities In Schools network. Their mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Lee Institute was engaged by senior leadership to partner for strategic planning, facilitation, and consultation. Lee’s role was to design and implement a thoughtful process to review and evaluate a three-year strategic plan. Efforts around this engagement included consultation and assistance in business modeling.

Over the course of a year, Lee consultants worked with the CIS Strategic Planning Committee, and board of directors to develop their strategic priority areas, goals, and strategies. The senior leadership team and full staff then participated in sessions, with support from Lee Institute, to develop their strategic plan scorecard.

During the engagement, Duke & Lee President & CEO was able to engage directly in CIS’s programming with students, organization leadership and community leaders to volunteer as mentors on their annual trip. Our direct connection to the work of our partners allows us to better understand and facilitate conversations about the next right steps for each organization.
